Treatment
There are various treatment options for breast cancer. As the best course of treatment is always an individual decision for every patient (made by the doctor and the patient together), we cannot give any recommendations. However, we have put together an overview outlining the available options.
When treating breast cancer, the surgical removal of the tumor is an essential part of the therapy. In many cases, this can be carried out in a breast-conserving manner. In some cases, however, it is unavoidable to remove the breast completely - this is called a Mastectomy. After such an operation, it is standard nowadays to reconstruct the breast, for example with implants or with the body's own tissue.
You should think about these options consciously and calmly in order to consider what you want personally.
To be able to make this decision, you need comprehensive information about the surgical treatment methods as well as detailed advice from your doctor about the options for breast reconstruction.
We want to give you an overview of the individual surgical methods and give background information which can help you to prepare for discussing your individual treatment options with your doctor.
